Well Met
September 2025

‘Red Admiral’, by Fliss

Hello! And welcome to issue no. 6 of Well Met, for September 2025. It‘s our half-year birthday!

Here to help us celebrate is a ravishing red admiral butterfly, photographed during a park trip four years ago. Pittville is home to a lot of interesting insect life. Our main aim when visiting is usually to see the swan family, but we had to pause to admire the admiral when he touched down on the little wooden bridge just upstream from Lower Lake and basked in the sunshine for a while.

This month we‘re delighted to feature the following poets:

Melissa Balmain

Mark Blaeuer

Michael R. Burch

Martin Elster

John Claiborne Isbell

Gail White

Word-Bird

Melissa, Mark, Mike, Martin and Gail have kindly provided notes to accompany their poetry. Gail‘s contribution is the second part of her two-part cat poems collection! The first part may be read here. John and W.-B. have enjoyed brief discussions.

Thanks for reading!
