Well Met
April 2026
Happy Birthday to us! Today we are 1 year old, as the first issue of Well Met was published on 1st April 2025. Members of the tiny team put on our party hats early this morning, and now we’re doing a little dance. Hooray!
WM has come a considerable distance since issue no. 1, we feel. That first publication comprised a single page, with just Fliss and John Isbell contributing. But in the months that followed, we were fortunate to be joined by about twenty more metrical poets! Party hats for all!
This issue sees the return of Barb, Claudia, David, Gail, Janice, Janet, John, Mark, Melissa, Mike, Paul, Steven, Susan and, of course, WM’s mascot the illustrious Word-Bird. Thanks to you all for your wonderful poetry! We have a new contributor too, in the highly talented Ethan McGuire. A warm welcome to Ethan, and many thanks for coming on board.
The prompt-if-you-want for this issue was ‘Awakenings’, and among our April offerings are flowers, both foolish and thoughtful; human and insect reflections; an assortment of epiphanies; even unexpected directions with Shakespeare and Milton! Overall, there’s a lot to enjoy.
Thanks again to all our contributors:
And many thanks to all our readers; your ongoing support is much appreciated!
Happy April!
Fliss
